2/19-2/25

Well, I hope everyone enjoyed their Presidents' Day vacation... I spent the day creating various types of rubrics, researching possible PBL (project-based learning) ideas, and avoiding like the plague the various food temptations (chocolate seemed to be the theme).

2/24- One of my friends threw a surprise birthday party for her husband, so I brought this bottle of wine for RA and I to share. Let's face it... I judge a book by it's cover- the only reason I bought this wine was because I liked the name and the colors on the label. But obviously my second impression of it was quite good because we finished the bottle before the party even started! :)

2/22- My rosebushes are in full bloom right now! They need to be trimmed back, but I just thought their colors looked so pretty.

2/19- Got bored on Sunday without RA at home to stop me from whipping up this cake. We only ate half of it before deciding to throw the rest away... we're trying to be good and (semi) follow our Game On! Diet rules. :)

2/25- Speaking of being good (NOT). Rami and I had a math and science team competition yesterday, and we had several kids who qualified for the state competition in April. We decided to celebrate afterwards with frozen beverages (sorry RA... you can forbid me from having Orange Leaf on Monday since I was a bad girl LOL ;) ).

2/21- I'm not going to lie... it's a little bit overwhelming and mind-boggling to plan and prepare to PBL projects. If you know me well at all, you know I'm big into list-making. So, here is my (somewhat organized) to-do list!

I'm not sure what day this was, but here is RA... trying to pay for the drive-thru car wash at HEB. :) The car in front of us was taking its sweet time, and while I was getting ten kinds of bajiggity (because my patience for oblivious people is low), RA kept her cool. :)

2/22- After Ash Wednesday service! Afterwards, we had to run to the store to pick up a few things. We had been in the store for maybe 10 minutes when I finally turned and looked at RA and noticed she still had her ashes on... then I realized I did too! It was just a funny moment.

Yay, I love St. Patty's Day! This is courtesy of RA. :)

2/12-2/18

So, I should officially announce that I ate my body weight in chocolate this week. Thanks a lot, St. Valentine.

2/18- Rami and I spent the afternoon working on Math & Science Team stuff. Our last competition as a team this year is next Saturday. It will be at The Village School, and we are all really excited! Hopefully, we'll be bringing home a few more trophies!

2/14- Ruth Ann and I had a "girl date" on Valentine's Day. At first, our plan was to go to Babin's (I seem to always be craving seafood), but the wait there was an hour and a half! Now, I totally get it... it was Valentine's Day and everyone and their mother was going out to eat. But really? An hour and a half? So, we abandoned that plan faster than you can say, "crawfish etouffe." We go next door to Carino's, and they tell us the wait is 30-45 minutes. We were willing to accept that, given that it was Valentine's Day.
Five minutes later, we were sitting at our table drinking these delicious bellinis! We also had mozzarella sticks, salad, bread, RA had pinot gregio chicken tortellini (yum!) and I had crawfish macaroni and cheese (double yum!). Then, we came home, ate a sleeve of thin mints, and watched Valentine's Day (the movie). So fun!

So true.

2/16- RA and I hosted bunco at our house this week. It was Valentine's Day, so I decided to make chocolate covered strawberries with gold sprinkles!

2/17- Oh, staff development days. How I love thee.
The 7th grade teachers spent the day yesterday planning for our Project Based Learning (PBL) unit that we will be doing later this year. It got very intense- so much so, that I needed two computers to manage. :)
I think we're all feeling excited, yet overwhelmed, about the project. Now, that it's all starting to come together, I can't wait to see how the kids will do!

2/14 (part 2)- My Valentine's card from the best roommate ever!
I feel so much better to know that RA would shiv someone for me... :)

We have more staff development on Monday, so that means a short week ahead! I've already put on my to-do list that I need to go to the gym everyday this week... gotta make up for all that chocolate-eating I did! With that said, time to go pull the chocolate cake I made this evening out of the oven. Not kidding.

Good night!

2/5-2/11

Lots of pampering happened this week... I guess in preparation for Valentine's Day? I'll just keep telling myself that...

My nail color this time is Big Apple Red, with some gold glitter (because let's face it... I think in my past life I was Tinkerbell).

I love the festive Starbucks cups! And the Skinny Mocha Latte that was inside.

More pampering occurred on Saturday with my mom. Even my toes are ready for Valentine's Day!

Here is my precious girl, Amber, at her ear surgery check-up. My mom ("nana") took her, and said that she just waltzed in and hopped up on the bench like she knew what she was doing. I think in this picture she was saying, "What? You get to sit in a seat, so should I! I'm being a good girl... don't make me get down, please."

Skittles was very enthused to be watching Breaking Dawn Part I with me last night. Can't you tell?

Do I even need to explain this photo?

1/29-2/4

This week in pictures! I'm lacking any sort of clever intro, so I'll just say... enjoy!

Mooyah fries in all their greasey goodness! Rami kept me company on my meal-off craving. :)

Ok, I finally broke down and bought a drill because I bought that white drawer thing at The Container Store several weeks ago and it needed to be installed. I'm proud of myself and my power tool skills. :)

New sunglasses! I promise to (try) to take better care of these. But I still maintain that I buy cheap sunglasses so I don't have to worry about messing them up... just buy new ones!

On Friday, all my students got a laptop at their desks to do research on angle relationships. I felt like I was in a Jetson's-type classroom that day... and it was awesome! The kids had a lot of fun with it ("Ms. White! This was way better than taking notes while you talk!" hehe gotta love them!).

Played Settlers of Catan with Sammi and her family last weekend. Super fun... and addictive!

I had such a great weekend with Mom... we went for breakfast and coffee on Sunday morning. It was so worth getting up at 7:30. Being on this diet has really made me appreciate my love of coffee, and I can't wait to be able to drink it every day again! :)

If I've never mentioned how I have the best students in the world, then... I have the BEST students in the world! The other day, one of my students came up to me and said, "Ms. White, my mom and I went to Hobby Lobby last night, and I saw this zebra calculator and thought of you, so I got it for you!" So sweet! :)
